英语军事用语的形式特征
3.1.1 名词+（一个或数个）名词，如laser search （激光搜索）、 machine gun （机关枪）、 electronics
intelligence centre （电子情报中心）、fire support coordination line （火力支援獏调线）。
3.1.2 形容词（名词、过去分词）- 名词（形容词）+名词，如low-intensity war
（低强度战争）、observer-target
distance（观目距离）、mission-essential material （完成任务所需基本作战物资）、guided-missile
cruiser （导弹巡洋舰）。
3.1.3 （一个或数个）形容词+（一个或数个）名词, 如 frontal attack（正面攻击）、 horizontal action
mine
（水平爆炸地雷）、initial active training （初次现役训练）、multiple independently
targetable reentry vehicle （分导式多弹头导弹）。
3.1.4 分词（动名词）+（一个或数个）名词， 如supporting operation（支援作战）、 combined doctrine

3.1.6 用连字符将若干词连接起来构成的复合词，如over-the-shoulder bombing

tactics（扰乱战术）、low-altitude-flying-target interception（对低空飞行目标的截击）。
3.2 广泛使用缩略语
3.2.1 单词缩略
（1） 截短法(Clipping) 截取单词一部分，适用于双音节词或多音节词，一般截去一个音节，该音节无需是原词的主要部分。如取首：MUN =
munitions（军需品）；取中 ：LANT= Atlantic（大西洋）；取尾：RON =
squadron（中队）。当一个单词较长时，在截取词首部分以后，常再取最后一个辅音字母。如 ENGD = engaged （交战的），ESPG
= espionage（间谍）。（金经国等，1995；马继东，1992）
（2） 取辅音法 留取单词中的辅音字母，但当首字母为元音时予以保留。如WH = warhead（弹头）、WPN =
weapon（武器）、PVT=
private（列兵，二等兵）、OVLD = overload
（过载）；当一个单词较长，辅音字母较多时，往往只留取首尾和中间发音较重要的辅音字母。如MGMT = management （管理）、SKDN =
shakedown（试航）。（金经国等，1995；居祖纯，1982）
（3） 谐音法 以使用频率较低的字母代替单词中发音近似的音节，如VQ = vehicle （车辆）、ZAT = that（那个）、FAX =
facsimile（传真）。（金经国等，1995）
3.2.2 词组缩略
（1） 首字母联写法 (Initialism) 依次提取词组中首字母或首音节，[2][5] 如MAF= marine air force
（陆军航空队）、MICV = mechanized infantry combat vehicle （机械化步兵战车）、MILSAT =
military satellite（军事卫星）、LABCOM = laboratory command
（实验指挥部）。实际应用时，有的单词取开首两个或多个字母，有的取开首两个音节，有的甚至取全词或忽略不取。如AUTODIN = Automatic
Digital Network（自动数字网）、JSTAFFOFC = Joint Chiefs of Staff
Office（参谋长联席会议办公室）； 有时使用阿拉伯数字表示几个相同相连的缩略字母，如C3I system = command,
control,
communication and intelligence system （指挥、控制、通讯与情报系统）、CVC2 = combat com
bat vehicle command and control （战斗车辆的指挥与控制）、P2NBC = Physiological
Psychological Effects of NBC
（核、生、化武器的生理和心理效应）；有时取第一个词的首字母，加上完整的第二个词构成，如A-bomb = atom
bomb。（马继东，1992；周大军等，1996）
（2） 拚缀法 (Blending) 将一个词的一部分与另一个词的一部分联合成一体构成缩略语。有些缩略语是由前一个词的前部和后一个词的后部组成,
如BOMRON = bomber squadron（轰炸机中队）；有些是取前缀和主干词及其他各词的首字母组合而成，如SPAAG =
self-propelled antiaircraft gun （自行防空火炮）、ICBMS = inter-continental
ballistic missile system （洲际弹道导弹系统）； 有些是各种单词缩略方法的结合使用， 如 RBCN （Radio
beacon）（无线电信标）是首取法和取辅音法的结合； DPERS(Director of Personnel Service)
（人事处处长）则是首取法和截成法的结合。（胡志敏，1994；金经国等，1995；马继东，1992）
（3） 介词、冠词、连词等虚词通常不作缩略语中的成分，但某些缩略语也有上述虚词（胡志敏，1994）。 如MoD = Ministry of
Defense（（美）国防部），OPDAR = optical direction and ranging（光学定位与测距）、TAFF =
the
army functional file（陆军职能档案）；有时当某一介词的前后部分基本对等时，其前后的单词需要缩略，而该词却整体保留，如LTOR
=
left to right（从左至右）、SANDD = search and destroy（搜索与摧毁）。
（4） 缩略语中含有缩略语（胡志敏，1994）。 如ITV (improved TOW vehicle)
（改进型陶式反坦克导弹运载工具）中，TOW是tube-launched, optical,
wire-guided（管发射，光学跟踪，有线制导）的缩写；SACDIN (the SAC Digital Information
Network
) （战略空军数字（据）情报网）中，SAC 为Strategic Air Command 的缩写。
（5）有的缩略语是根据其它语种各单词缩略而成，如ACTCP = anti-char a tres counte
portee（极近程反坦克武器）、ACTA = anti-char toutes
armes（反坦克武器）这两个缩略语都是根据法语各单词的第一个词母缩略而成的（胡志敏，1994）。
3.3 口语用词简明
军语口语有多种形式，这里仅讨论几种较为典型的口语形式，即队列口令、作战命令、
通讯用语以及报告语的特点。这几种类型的口语的语言形式有的是用显性简短祈使句；有很多却是省略了谓语动词，仅留下非谓语成分或谓语成分的一部分，这实际上用的是隐性祈使句或陈述句；有些则是使用代语。（胡志敏，1994；居祖纯，1982；马继东，1992）
3.3.1 使用显性祈使句
命令语的基本句型就是祈使句，但其句子极为简练，有的只有一个动词，如：“Halt!（立定！）”、“Fire!（开火！放！）”；
有的则是一个动词短语，如：“Take arms! （取枪！）”、“Fall in (out) !
（集合！（解散！））”。队列口令一般由名词词组或介词词组加上动词组成，如：“Quick time, march !（齐步走！）”、 “By
the
right flank, march !（向右转走！）”。
3.3.2 使用隐性句 省略动词，仅留下非谓语部分是这类军语的特点。有时由一个作宾语的名词或名词词组构成，如“Attention
!（立正！）”可以看作是一个宾语。又如“Eyes
front!（向前看！）”则是宾语名词再加副词，front是修饰已省略动词的副词，作状语；有时由名词词组构成，如“Route step!
（便步走！）”、“Right face ! (向右转！)”、“Full time ahead! (全速前进！)
”等，它们可以认为是省略动词后留下的状语；有时由介词词组构成，如“At ease! (稍息！)”、“About
face!（向左转！）”等在句中作状语；有时由作表语的副词构成，主要用于通讯用语，如“Out!（通话完毕，结束联络。）”、“Over!（我已讲完，请回答。）”；
还有一些军语，如“Mission completed！（任务完成了）”、“All hands, on deck!
（（舰上全体）集合）”、“Enemy in sight!（发现敌人！）”等省略的是助动词或系动词，留下的则是主语和部分谓语或主语和表语。
3.3.3 使用代语
代语常用于通讯用语中，最初是为了防止作战中的通话内容泄露而使用的暗语。其特点是用尽量少的词语表达较多的内容。但是由于其中有些代语经常使用，其含义也就逐渐暴露公开。目前仅仅因为它们构成简洁，使用方便，才继续发挥其代语功能。如“Roger!
（获悉！收到！明白！）”、“Bogey！（发现来历不明飞机！）”、“Skunk！（发现来历不明舰船）”、“Bingo！（剩余燃料只够安全返回！）”等等。
